THE SEEDS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE LAND OF THE FUTURE

We create. We grow. We bond, expand, and prosper.

This is the mission of the Brežice library – the library celebrating the 70th anniversary of its operation after the Second World War. Its
establishment was a self-evident extension of its pre-war operations in Brežice by the Slovenian Reading Society and Sokol library.

The library has become a priceless and indispensable public place, in which many generations of readers have grown and bonded.
Renamed and under new management, the independent Brezice library has seen growth in all areas.

Having updated and expanded our library area, we made a great step forward toward better access to our services. Additional rooms
provide space to organizations of numerous events and projects. We stress the importance of the role of the library as an information
centre in reading literacy and culture with the completed investment, expanded adult area, independent youth area, upgraded Local
Studies area, and books on the move. The development of our educational system and culture enjoy our quality support locally and
farther afield. We are also being developed as a virtual environment which offers stimulation and excitement as well as making us
available on multiple platforms.

We are aware that a satisfied customer can build a library’s reputation and co-shape its vision. This is what we had in mind when
preparing the 2015-2019 Strategic plan of the Brežice library. We would like to offer our users a 24/7 automated book return machine.
We would also like to expand our services with a mobile library bus that will travel throughout the region, with books on the move and
3D printer. Inspiring events, learning and meetings of all generations will be enriched by the digitisation of Local Studies, by publications
in Biographical Lexicon of Posavje and by an upgrade of e-books and databases.

My special thanks for interest and support goes to our founder – the Brežice Community; by maintaining conditions of operations, we are
able to serve our users – members of the Community. Thank you to my co-workers, former employees, library members, sponsors and
donors. Together we are shaping our mission and vision.

In our six decades of development we are constantly growing, developing and blooming. The garden of the seventh decade is rich with
book areas, events, and new seeds are sprouting in the plots of the future.
